When you visit India for the purpose of Holidays, personal enlightenment and sight-seeing, you are a tourist. A tourist is not allowed to work or conduct business in India. A tourist needs a Indian tourist visa so he/she can stay in India for a period of 30 days while doing her own explorations and excursions in an India.
What is a India Tourist Visa?
A tourist visa is a stamp or document needed so you can stay in India for a specific period of time, for the purpose of tourism. It is stamped on your passport upon arrival at the airport in India. The tourist visa can also be extended if necessary. There are certain countries that made agreements with the government of India so their citizens can benefit from the Indian visa exemption when entering India as tourists.
Requirements for a Tourist Visa
When applying online tourist visa for India, certain documents and fees are needed to obtain one. The documents and the fee are subject to change anytime and without prior notice, so it would be a good idea for an aspiring tourist to inquire for the right information before flying off to India.
Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The online visa application form must be submitted a minimum of 4 days and a maximum of 30 days in advance of their intended travel date. The applicant must use his/her ETA visa within 30 days of the approval date, else the visa will expire. Once issued the India ETA is valid for 30 days.
